The upcoming July 4th holiday is one of my favorites. When I was little we would all go to my Grandma’s for a picnic….and of course…some fireworks! I still love to see all the flags flying…flags that remind us of those heroes who have fought…and sometimes died….for our country. When my dad passed away he had a military funeral where where my mom was presented with a flag in honor of his service to our nation. The officer said “On behalf of the President of the United States, the Department of the Air Force, and a grateful nation, we offer this flag for the faithful and dedicated service of Lieutenant Colonel John Parrish.” Just seeing that ceremony brought me to tears. I now have that flag in a pillow and it helps me remember how my dad served his country. What kind of legacy do YOU want to pass down to your children and grandchildren?
